Kevin Gausman was tagged for six runs including a grand slam by J.T. Realmuto in a 9-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. The Braves still take a series win from the weekend and will head into their series against the Nationals with a 5.5 game lead in the NL East.

Ronald Acuña Jr. leaves Sunday’s game after collision at second base

Ronald Acuña Jr. extended his consecutive games for reaching base streak to 32 with a seventh inning single on Sunday. However, after colliding with Phillies shortstop Jean Segura while stealing his 24th base of the season, he was was forced to exit the game with what was described as neck stiffness. Acuña told reporters following the game that he plans on being back in the lineup but we will have to wait and see if that happens.

Scherzer (back pain) likely to be pushed back

The Braves won’t have to deal with Stephen Strasburg in their upcoming series in Washington and may not have to face Max Scherzer either. Scherzer’s scheduled start on Tuesday is in doubt after he has continued to deal with soreness in his back.

Mets To Acquire Marcus Stroman

The dominos have started to fall and the first big move before the trade deadline is a bit of a surprise. The New York Mets have an agreement to acquire Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for minor league pitchers Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson. The Stroman addition isn’t expected to alter New York’s plans to pursue trades for Noah Syndergaard, Zach Wheeler and Edwin Diaz.

Indians Acquire Hunter Wood, Christian Arroyo

The Cleveland Indians acquired right-hander Hunter Wood and infielder Christian Arroyo from the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday in exchange for minor league outfielder Ruben Cardenas.

Rays Acquire Eric Sogard

The Rays also acquired infielder Eric Sogard from the Blue Jays in exchange for two players to be named later.

Frustrated Trevor Bauer hurls baseball from pitcher’s mound over center field fence

Indians starter Trevor Bauer gave up seven earned runs in just 4 1/3 innings against the Royals on Sunday afternoon but the most noteworthy event from his performance happened as he was being removed from the game. As manager Terry Francona emerged from the dugout, Bauer turned and fired a baseball over the center field fence. He laterissued an apologyfor his actions.
